The District Technical Team and Councillors held a Meeting with a Team from the Ministry of Water and Environment (MWE) which received funding from the UK Export Finance (UKEF) to construct solar powered water supply and sanitation systems in Uganda in Districts with Low safe water coverage The MWE contracted Nexus Greens Limited (NGL) a UK renewable energy contractor to provide clean energy solutions for a period of three years under the rural water and sanitation program.
Kayunga District Joined the rest of the world in celebrating the World Water Day which was held at Gwero Village, Namayuge parish and Galiraya sub county under the theme "Accelerating Change To Solve Water and Sanitation Crisis. “The Asst Water Engineer Mr Luboya Paul gave statistics of safe water coverage to 77% in the District. He advised schools, families and communities to preserve fresh water through conserving the environment, regulating pollution, forest cover and good farming methods.
The Permanent Secretary Ministry of Education and Sports Mrs Lamaro Betty together with Director National Curriculum Development Centre and CEO Vision Group launched the revised Edition of the Nile English Course Book for Primary six at Nakyesa Bright Primary school in Kayunga District.
The District team was represented by the RDC, DEO.
The DEO Mr Mubale Dan thanked government for funding the project. We have registered a tremendous improvement in the education sector and appealed to government to also consider the transitional classes like Primary four.
