The revived District multi hazard contingency plan 2023 - 2025.

The Office of the Prime Minister in conjunction with the Red Cross supported the District to develop the Multi hazard Contingency plan which was endorsed by the District leadership.  

 

Mr Aka Nyombeka from Red Cross held a meeting with departmental heads to validate the District contingency plan (DCP) and intergrate trigers for early warning. 

 

The Heads of departments submitted their inputs towards early warning and Actions that shall be cross cutting between 2023 to 2025.

 

Talk show by the Commercial Department.

The RDC, Senior Probation and social welfare Officer and a team from the Commercial department held at talk show at sauti Fm.

 Mr. Nambale Baker the Relationship Officer micro finance support center said Kayunga District has received seed capital of 1,680,000,000 for Emyooga Saccos in the 3 constituencies and has so far saved 539,160,000.

  He further said the program has been successful despite some challenges.

  He promised to train all the 54 saccos and add them 20m annually to only best performing Saccos. 

 HE highlighted the roles of MFSC which included:

Destruction of illegal fishing gears by FPU in Kawongo.

The National Commander of the Fisheries Protection Unit (FPU) held a community meeting in kawongo.

The purpose of the meeting was to get feedback from fishers about FPU operations on L.kyoga.

He later proceeded to the FPU site in kawongo to witness the implementation of the court order of destruction of illegal fishing gears.

The estimated value of the destroyed gears was 423 million shillings.

The destroyed illegal fishing gears included:

1. 130 pieces of Seine nets.

2. 160 pieces of Cast nets.

3. 5000 pieces of Monofilament nets.
