A team from Water For People (WFP) Uganda in partnership with Caritus held a sanitation and hygiene community sensitisation outreach in Ntimba Parish, Galiraaya Subcounty kayunga District.
Water For People project was identified by MoH to manage sanitation and hygiene funds (SHF) aiming at improving universal access to safe sanitation and hygiene in communities, public institutions, schools and health care facilities.
The project was implemented in 7 pilot Districts like Buikwe, Buyende, kabarole, kole, kamuli, luuka and Kayunga.
Kayunga District laid a budget before council totalling to 57,645,703, 000 compared to 55,662,454, 000 in the FY 2024/2025. Under the theme " full monetisation of Uganda's economy through: Commercial, agriculture, industrialization, expanding and broadening services, digital transformation and market access."
The Secretary finance planning and administration noted an increase in the overall resource allocation.
The budget has priotised investment in monitoring PDM, human resource development, infrastructural development and promotion of innovations amongst the residents.
The Sectoral Committee for Production, Technical services, Natural resources and Trade together with RDC Kayunga carried out an oversight monitoring visit to 14 Ugift microscale irrigation beneficiaries in kiryamuli and kyanya villages in kayunga Subcounty and Misanga village in Bbaale subcounty.
This program is funded by the Government of Uganda with support from World Bank under Ministry of Agriculture, Animal, Industry and Fisheries as the lead Ministry.
At District level, it is implemented by the Production and Marketing Department.
