Newly elected political leaders undergoing an induction program at kayunga District headquarters.

Newly elected political leaders in Kayunga District have undergone an induction program aimed at strengthening governance accountability and improved service delivery. 

 

The one day orientation organized by Kayunga District Local Government brought together district councilors and other political leaders to equip them with different skills. 

 

The orientation equipped them with knowledge on their constitutional and statutory responsibilities. 

 

Mr Godfrey Egulwa, an official from the Ministry of Local government oriented participants on roles of district council committees, responsibilities of executive committees, secretaries, individual councilors and roles of technical team. 

 

He called for close collaboration between the political leadership and technical team.

 

The CAO Mrs. Edith Mutabaazi urged leaders to execute their duties and responsibilities in accordance with the constitution. 

 

She informed the participants that their allowances would be received through their bank accounts and can now access loans.

 

She urged members to join the fight against corruption. " The war against corruption is not about to end, but we must fight it together. "Said Mutabaazi. 

 

She pledged her commitment to serve councilors and abide by the council resolutions. 

 

The District Speaker thanked CAO for her efforts in the fight against corruption.

 

He said effective service delivery depends on close collaboration between the political leadership and the technical team.

 

He noted that the training was important because government business is conducted within the law and based on facts.

 

The District Chairperson noted that this program is essential for governance and accountability.

 

 He encouraged the newly elected leaders to uphold integrity, accountability, teamwork, and transparency while serving their respective communities. 

 

He thanked CAO for Priotising council and funding it always.

 

He urged councilors to mobilise local revenue within their communities because council business operates on local revenue. 

 

He urged them to join the fight against corruption in the district. "Corruption is not all about recruitment but several ways," Said Muwonge.
