Heifer International Team together with kayunga District Stakeholders pose for a group Photo after the Inception Meeting.

Heifer international in partnership with Mastercard foundation held an inception meeting with stakeholders at kayunga District Headquarters.

Heifer international is intending to implement a Stimulating Agribusiness for Youth Employment (SAYE) project in kayunga District.

The meeting was intended to present the project to all stakeholders and share its objectives, implementation

plan and expected outcome.

SAYE's main goal is to improve social economic well being and resilience of young people.

The intervention is targeting 250,000 young people 16-35 years with 70% female, 30% male among which 3% are youth with disability.

Mrs Connetie Ayesiga the partnership and technical lead for SAYE project said this will tackle unemployed youth by equipping them with practical agribusiness skills, improve access to markets and inclusive financing across key value chains including poultry, horticulture, oil seeds, diary and beef production.

Ayesiga noted that many young people possess the energy and willingness to engage in agriculture but are often hindered by limited skills , inadequate capital and market source.

Local leaders believe the project will help transform agriculture from subsistence farming into profitable enterprises capable of attracting and sustaining young people.

The Ag. PAS Hajjat Naava Fatuma welcomed the intervention describing it as timely given the increasing level of unemployed youths and growing need to commercialise agriculture.
